Bringing Hope Hosts Toolkit Seminars Following the publication of the ground-breaking toolkit, Bringing Hope will be running seminars during the month of September and early October to discuss how Churches can be a part of a movement of hope to those entrenched in guns, drug, knife and gang activity. Each seminar will take place in a different part of Birmingham to address the issues pertinent to that area and also to recognise that the problem of gangs, violence and substance misuse is not isolated to the inner cities. During the three-hour programme attendees will be introduced to the work of Bringing Hope, given practical tips on working in this field and there will be opportunities to discuss the concerns and frustrations with the challenges associated with this sub-culture. Copies of the toolkit will also be distributed to delegates on the day of the seminars along with any additional information. Carver Anderson, Chair of Bringing Hope states:” The churches’ involvement is vital as an agent for change towards better communities. There is a clear need for church leaders to begin to work together in response to the crisis on our streets.” Over 300 invitations have been sent to Church leaders of every denomination in Birmingham to pass on the information to their congregations and to attend the seminars themselves. In an effort for the church to be proactive and equipped, Bringing Hope will be recruiting individuals to train as volunteers who can be contacted via their churches to provide advice, comfort or guidance in situations linked to guns, drugs, knives, gangs and related incidences.
